GO COUPONS!! GO PRINCESS!!

Cinnamon Chili

The princess made chili. The king really likes chili and really enjoyed this chili. The directions called for cinnamon in the chili and the Princess put it in. She didn't like it. The royal family really doesn't like spicy things so the Princess did not put any chili powder in it. The Princess thinks that may be why it was to sweet.

The Princess thinks that every time she makes hamburger she will put onion and garlic in it.. YUM!

Thursday

Citrus Chicken

The princess started with a mixture of orange marmalade, cinnamon and ginger.

The princess then cooked some chicken tenders.

Then the Princess put the mixture over the chicken. IT WAS SO SO GOOD! The queen says it tastes like something she has had at a restaurant but can't remember where or what it is called... hmmmm.... The Princess served it with mashed potatoes. The Princess is not going to post the mashed potato pics again since you already know what she does.

Lasagna roll ups

The Italian Pilot did NOT get the whole thought process behind lasagna roll ups BUT, the king and the queen and the Princess LOVED them.

The princess started with sauce in the bottom on the pan.

The princess then mixed ricotta cheese. Hamburger, sauce and some mozzarella cheese together
Then the Princess made the noodles. This was the first time that the Princess made lasagna noodles so she had to wait longer for the water to boil since she didn't put enough water in.. lesson learned.

This part was fun. The princess put the mixture in the noodle and rolled it up

Then the Princess covered it in mozzarella cheese and put it in the oven.

They were SO SO SO good!!!

Monday

Coupons

So the Princess didn't cook today.. work again. BUT, last night when she came home from work and couldn't sleep she did some research and she has a new hobby.... coupons.

Learning to cook has turned into more then just cooking. There seems to be more to running a kitchen. Last week when the Princess did the shopping she used two coupons and it was pretty cool. Now, lets see how this goes.

Sunday

Working Princess

The Princess worked again tonight. SO she did not cook. BUT, she did have a thought. The Princess works at a restaurant. The Princess is saddened by the amount of people that don't cook for their children. It is such an enjoyable thing. It is really sad that people don't get to share that with their children. Don't be scared! The Italian Pilot helped me learn and God can send you someone to help you TOO! Again, the above picture is not the Princess.. just a dream.

Friday

Off topic... Kind of

The Princess went to the gym tonight. Since the royal family started eating at home the Princess has lost ten pounds. HMMMM..... maybe there is something to all this healthy eating.....

Stuffed boots...

So the Princess decided to make stuffed peppers. Now you may say, "but the title says stuffed boots" Yes well observant reader the Italian Pilot said that he does not like stuffed peppers (neither does the Princess) and he said that if the stuffing was right you could stuff a boot and it would be good. It was not so much that the stuff was bad the Princess just didn't like the pepper part.

It all started with brown rice. The Princess uses ready to serve, not because she is lazy but because the last FOUR times she made rice it wasn't done. SO, she just gave up on cooking rice and started using the ready to serve. VERY easy!

Then the Princess browned rice and added onion. The Princess thinks that this is one of her favorite smells.

This is the stuffing part. It has rice, hamburger, onion, cumin, garlic powder, and tomatoes. It smelled (and tasted) great.

The Princess cored (I am not sure what you call it) the pepper.

Then the directions say to boil them for 3-5 mins. They never really got soft.

The Princess added flax to the mix.... healthy.. you know...

Then the Princess topped them with cheese and put them in the oven.

When she brought them out. The Princess was disappointed. This is something that the Princess probably won't cook again.

Thursday

Kind of healthy brownies

The princess LOVES brownies. The Italian Pilot does not bake NOR does he like sweets. So this is the Princess's main thing to cook without the help of the Italian pilot. This time though the Princess added some things that will make the Italian Pilot smile. First she started with sugar.

Then she added melted butter.

Then she added 3 eggs, one at a time.

Then she added DARK chocolate powder. The Princess LOVES, LOVES, LOVES dark chocolate.

Then (this is the first healthy thing) the Princess added unbleached flour.

AND HERE IS THE HEALTHY PART..... WAIT FOR IT...... FLAX SEED!!! Way to go princess! Then the Princess added chocolate chunks. The queen and king waited up until they were done cooking. They really liked the brownies.

TA DA!! Brownies!! They are GREAT!!

The Princess aces potatoes

The princess did mashed potatoes and they were VERY good. A LOT better then the garlic ones!

The princess bakes the potatoes and then cuts them in half and pulls out the fluffy part. The Italian Pilot wants the Princess to eat the skins. The Princess just can't do it yet.

This is the rub that the princess made. It is VERY easy. It is basically just some spices mixed with oil. It is very easy.

Then you rub it all over the tenderloin. It is kind of fun. :)

When it is all done the spices were all caked on the tenderloin. The princess scrapped it off because the king and the queen don't like things to spicy.

Wednesday

The Princess fries the chicken

It was a beautiful sunny day in the kingdom and the Princess decided to make some breaded chicken. It started with three little bowls. The first little bowl had flour in it. The second little bowl had eggs (with the Italian Pilot calls an egg wash ~ the Princess thinks that's funny) and a third little bowl with bread crumbs.

Now the Princess wanted to make bread crumbs and the last time she did make bread crumbs and it was not pretty and she realized that after the amount of time she put into it that making bread crumbs was not necessary. She this time she bought bread crumbs, much to the Italian pilots delight.

The princess covered the chicken in the flour, egg wash (insert giggle) and bread crumbs. The Italian pilot says that it is very important to cover the entire chicken in the layers. We shall see....

More tips from the Italian Pilot. The Italian Pilot says that if you line the counter with paper towels it saves from the mess of cleaning it all up. The princess made chicken cutlets last time and did not make much of a mess. This time when she put the breast in there some flour poofed out and made a little mess. So she thought that she would put the pilots tip in here.

Covering the chicken in the mixture totally proved to be a GREAT move. It made the chicken fry very fast. I was VERY good.

Here is a picture of it frying. The Princess used the tongs to turn them!

AND there there are. They were VERY good. Very juicy the breading makes almost a protective covering while they cook. It was very good!

Monday

A sticker from the queen!

The queen working with little children and she came across this sticker and brought it home for the princess! THANKS QUEEN!!!

The princess's first flop

So the Princess had directions for potato soup. The Princess learned that just because there are directions on the computer for something does not mean that it has been tested and will be good.

It started out good enough with the directions saying to bake several potatoes and some garlic wrapped in tin foil.

This is a picture of some of the potatoes and the garlic.

Here is the problem. The directions said for the Princess to use ALL of the garlic. SO, the Princess did... and what followed was really garlicky yuck.

The directions said to add chicken broth. SO the Princess did.... but even that could not save the potatoes all the Italian pilot said was...."How could you mess up mashed potatoes" even the Italian pilot could not save the yucky soup.

So the Princess made homemade brownies... WOW, they were amazing. Prince Train LOVED them!!!

Oh well, lesson learned. When it comes to garlic, less is more.
